Financial Metric for Utilities – AWWA Benchmarking Survey
Thursday, March 1, 2017
This JTAC luncheon will discuss the AWWA Benchmarking Survey of financial metrics for utilities. The financial related questions and metrics included in the benchmarking survey will be highlighted and discussed by Stephanie Passarelli, who is leading the AWWA survey. Following this discussion, Todd Cristiano and Andrew Rheem of Raftelis Financial Consultants will discuss financial and rate related metrics that are typically considered when completing studies for utilities, as well as highlight indicators that can be used to identify challenges before they become significant. Areas considered include affordability measures, liquidity, revenue stability, debt issuance related metrics, reserves, capital and capital funding. To illustrate trends and differences, trends and attributes using financial metrics will be reviewed for ammonized Colorado utilities generally serving between 50,000 and 150,000 residents.
This luncheon will be held at the Administration Building at the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District’s (MWRD’s) Robert W. Hite Treatment Facility. From I-25, exit at 58th Avenue and head east for 1 ¼ miles to the intersection with York Street. Turn left onto York Street to head north ¾ mile to the main entrance to the Hite Facility. From York Street turn right into the entrance and check-in at the gate. Proceed from there to the main entrance of the Administration Building. DON’T FORGET TO BRING IDENTIFICATION TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE CAMPUS AT THE SECURITY GATE.
