JTAC Presentation
Second Generation ATAD
March 25th, 2010
Second Generation ATAD (Autothermal Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion) has evolved to produce a superior digested residual. Small process footprint, a digested cake that de-waters well with less polymer feed, 70+ % VS destruction, 60% COD destruction, and 50 % solids reduction, allows downstream equipment to be down sized saving the end-user money. Producing class A biosolids turns a potential solid waste disposal problem into a usable (and green!) end product that can generate revenue and increase awareness of the positive aspects that ATAD brings to the community. Previous issues with first generation ATAD like odor, aeration, foam, and system control have been resolved with this new design. This improved technology has finally made its way to Colorado where Tetra Tech, Inc. has designed the first two installations for Eagle River Water & sanitation District and the City of Fruita. The presentation will be given by Steve Tamburini and Bob Orsatti from Tetra Tech, Inc.
The luncheon will be held in the meeting room of the REI Store, 1416 Platte Street, in downtown Denver. From I-25 heading north, take the 23rd Ave exit, veer to the right onto Water St, which turns into Platte St. REI is on the right just beyond the underpass. From I-25 heading south, take the 20th St exit, turn right onto 20th St for a very short distance and then merge to the left onto Central St; turn left on 15th St, and then turn right onto Platte St.. REI is on the left. Please park in the underground parking lot, which is accessed through the surface lot on the south side of the building. Note: REI Denver is also a short walk from the Union Station Light Rail stop.
Training Units (TU’s) are back! The JTAC is pleased to offer TU credit for attendance at our luncheons. Be sure to ask for a certificate when you check in at the luncheon.
