Leadville Operator School

July 24 - 28, 2017

A full curriculum for Water and Wastewater Plant Operators as well as Collection and Distribution System Operators is being offered at this year’s conference. This school has been designed to upgrade operational skills, obtain the required Training Units for certification renewal or obtain additional education and aid in helping those studying for certification exams.

One AWWA Operator Scholarship Application
July 24-28, 2017
The One AWWA Operator Scholarship is co-sponsored by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Rocky Mountain Section of AWWA (RMSAWWA).   Scholarships covering tuition, lodging, and meals  will be awarded to up to two applicants ($995 value). Applicants must be:
Employed by a Public Water System serving less than 3,300 residents within the Rocky Mountain Region area (Colorado, New Mexico or Wyoming).
Or:
Actively seeking employment with a Public Water System within the Rocky Mountain Region. Applicant must be registered to take the certification exam for their State of residency immediately following the Leadville Operator School.

Applications will not be considered from currently certified operators (unless upgrading your level of certification required at your current place of employment) or employees of systems serving greater than 3,300.

Applicants must be enrolled in the Water or Distribution system tracks only. Applicants from wastewater utilities will not be considered. 
Scholarships will be reviewed and awarded based on review of this application.

The Water course is limited to the first 45 participants. Math classes will be divided into Basic and Advanced. The Distribution/Collections class will be limited to the first 35 participants and will be geared towards those seeking Distribution and Collections System Certifications.

The The Joint Operator Training Conference Committee will offer two tracks for the Wastewater Operator, Advanced (A/B certifications) and Intermediate (C/D certifications). Each Wastewater track will be limited to 35 participants.

The Colorado Mountain College offers dormitory style housing and meals served cafeteria style. Single occupancy room and board for 5 nights is $510 and is limited to a first come first served basis. This will provide lodging from Sunday night through Thursday night; it also includes meals from Monday breakfast through Friday lunch. Single occupancy room and board for 6 nights is $595 and is also limited to a first come first served basis. This will provide lodging from Sunday night through Friday night; it also includes meals from Monday breakfast through Friday lunch. Individuals staying on campus for Certification Exams on Saturday need to register for 6 nights (you must be pre-registered by March 1st to take an exam).

Check-in for the dorm rooms will be handled by the college and starts Sunday after 4:30 pm. If you are taking an exam on Saturday be sure to register for a 6 night stay. (you must be pre-registered by March 1st to take an exam).

Cafeteria meals are available for those staying off campus for $175 for the week. Individual meals can be purchased at the conference information desk in the cafeteria.

Monday All Week Certification Exams

Certification Exam (Only those who have been previously approved are eligible to take the exams.  To have been pre-approved, one must have applied no later than March 1, 2017).

CERTIFICATION EXAMS FOR WATER, WASTEWATER, SMALL SYSTEMS, C & D LEVELS, and COLLECTIONS & DISTRIBUTION OPERATORS will be offered on Friday afternoon from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

CERTIFICATION EXAMS FOR ALL LEVELS will be offered on Saturday  from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Be sure to make lodging arrangements for Friday night if you are taking an exam Saturday, the college will have rooms available, but no meals will be served after Friday lunch.

Reservations are strongly recommended for all lodging and camping, this is a very busy time of year for Leadville. There are several more lodging facilities available in town and the surrounding area. Information can be obtained by contacting the Chamber of Commerce:
