When the pump is rotated to put the drain
plug on the side it does not go 90 degrees.
Will the plug be toward the panel or the hoist? |
From pump task #11: ... "The housing should be rotated so the plug faces towards the platform edge closest to the pump. " That should put it toward the hoist. | 3/24/11 |
| Will the motor wiring be toward the panel or the hoist? | The wiring should be oriented above the pump discharge, facing the slide rail. | 3/24/11 |
| Can the mixer nose cone be removed prior to draining the oil if the seal bolt is not removed? | Yes, as long as the bolt is not loosened before the oil is drained. | 3/24/11 |
| Can the team member securing the impeller wear mechanic gloves? | Synthetic leather is acceptable. | 3/24/11 |
|
The safety supervisor fills out the tag what
is the format for his signature? |
A reasonable facsimile of their normal signature is acceptable. An "X" will not be accepted as a signature on the lockout tag. The date should include day, month, year, not necessarily in that order. |

| Can any portion of the foot extend beyond the hoist platform into the wet well area or is this a penalty? | No portion of the foot may touch the top of the black painted area of the platform or hang over that area from the diamond plated hoist area. | 4/19/11 |
| Are baseball batting gloves accepted? | The gloves required for holding the impeller in the pump task must have leather or synthetic leather palms and leather or synthetic leather on the palm side of the fingers. | 5/5/11 |

Can the pump be moved over to the mixer side for service?
If so, can the rubber mat be moved over to the mixer side during warm up? |
When the crane is used to move the pump from its in service location, a team member must be able to guide the pump into or out of its intended location. This means that they must keep a hand on the pump or hoist cable to control the movement of the pump as it is transported, in this case, to the mixer side of the platform. If that can be done without passing the pump over another team member and avoid stepping in the black painted area then it will be allowed, subject to change. Moving the pump to the mixer side of the platform will not be allowed without the use of the crane.
Yes, the mats may be moved or adjusted to the teams liking. The pump tasks must be performed on the mat to help avoid damage to the pump.

While the Safety supervisor fills out the out of service tag, can another person place the pump and mixer control switch to off position, open the pump and mixer breakers and install the multi clasp for lock out tag out? After the Safety Supervisor installs his lock / tag and confirms lock out complete by placing the HOA switch to hand, then others can install their locks? |
Yes, the switches and breakers may be operated by any team member. Likewise, the hasp may be installed by anyone. After the Safety Supervisor has installed his locks and verified with the HOA, the other locks are installed. |

|
Reversing the last question on lock out / tag out, once the supervisor removes his lock from say the pump multi clasp, can he proceed to remove his lock off the mixer lock out while someone else removes the multi lock clasp off the pump circuit breaker, close the circuit breaker, reset the moisture alarm and place the HOA in Auto without receiving a penalty? |

Where do you obtain the 4 page study guide for the pump test? Can you fill the seal housing with oil as you are installing the impeller?
Can you drain both the pre-chamber and gear box oil at the same time? |
The study guide is available in the Downloads area on the Team Resource Center website at http://www.rmwea.org/OC/
The pre-chamber cannot be refilled until after the propeller has been tightened (reference Wilo Maintenance Event Description, Mixer Competition step 25).
The gear box cannot be drained until the pre-chamber oil has been determined to be contaminated. |

For the national event, will the torque wrenches be the exact torque wrenches that are listed in the tool list that is in the final rules and regs? |
The 3/8 inch torque wrench should be the Craftsman Microtork 44594. Disclaimer: Wilo provides that tool so I won't know for a fact until I get there and inventory the tools. The 1/2 inch torque wrench should be the Proto 6016. Disclaimer: The 1/2 inch wrench is a carry-over from the last maintenance event and the tool list from that event lists the brand and model. I would have to verify that is what we actually have in the box to be 100 percent sure. |
