We are finding it difficult to find the particular brace and bit for
the hole saw, do you have or know of a particular supplier? |
The brace and bit set (Stanley brand) used by most teams has been
discontinued. Several teams have been successful in obtaining
the equipment by searching on eBay, craigslist or similar sites. |

|
In regards to drilling the hole, can a rapid backward and forward
motion be used? |
Yes, but "punching" through to create the hole is a penalty.
The hand drill uses a non-ratcheting brace. Although it is not
listed in the rules, "ratcheting", or forcing the bit back and forth
puts undo strain on the tool. Therefore, this movement will
not be allowed.

Does the team member doing the PACP test have to be PACP certified? |
No, PACP certification is not required, but it is highly encouraged. In 2012, we plan to add short videos of pipe evaluations to the event. Participants will be required to code those videos using the PACP method. Therefore we highly encourage at least one team member to be PACP certified by early 2012. Teams that have at least one member PACP certified will likely have an advantage over teams that do not have a team member PACP certified. Please visit the National Association of Sewer Service Companies website – www.nassco.org – for information on obtaining PACP certification. |

What type of pipe is used? Schedule?
|
The pipe is 8" diameter SDR 35, which is used in gravity sewers. |

| There are no PACP
classes offered in my state this year.
Can this |
No, they cannot be taken online. I contacted NASSCO and they
suggested contacting a local PACP instructor/trainer to set up a
class. NASSCO may be conducting training at WEFTEC 2011, but
that has yet to be worked out.
Also - do not buy the Westward tool box - we will no longer be using
them. |

| Notice: |
Do not purchase the Westward tool box. The wooden toolbox used
prior to 2010 is what the Collections Systems Event will use going
forward. We will no longer use the Westard toolbox. |

| Can the saddle be
attached on the dry table after the hole is cut out |
Yes, teams are free to make the repair in any order the choose. |
Reposted 8/11/11 |
| Yes, but I would imagine that it would make the drilling the 4.5" inch hole more difficult. Every team I have ever seen run the event cuts the 4.5" hole first | Reposted 8/11/11 | |

Is there a layout
diagram for the placement of
the tool box, saw |
There is no layout that I know of. The comp area is roughly a
square, maybe 20 by 20??? Imagine 4 somewhat equal sides.
Side1 is at the bottom of the square and horizontal, side2 is to the
right and vertical, side3 is to the left and vertical and Side4 is
at the top and horizontal. The entry "gate" is usually a
3 to 4 foot opening towards the right of side1. The toolbox is
adjacent to, parallel to and centrally located on side2. The
dry table is adjacent to, parallel to and centrally located on
side3. The wet table is adjacent to, parallel to and slightly
off to the left of side4. The PACP table is located just off
the corner of side2 and side4. And sorry to be so vague, but the setup is never the same. Sometimes the area is square, sometimes it's rectangular. Sometimes it's larger and sometimes it's smaller. Sometimes it's indoors, sometimes it's outdoors. Sometimes the area is boxed in with ropes and curtains, other times it's completely open. Sometimes there's an entry gate (opening in the curtain), sometimes it's just duct tape on the floor. It's never the same because the venue is rarely the same and sometimes we set it up and sometimes it's set up by staff employed by the venue. There is no set way the tools and equipment are placed in the toolbox. It is left to each team, but nothing can be "stacked" on top of something else. |

Are the worm gear clamps the same? Meaning the heads for the Fernco couplings and service saddle the same or are pivoting heads being used only for the service saddle? |
At WEFTEC, the
same clamps used on the Ferncos are used for the saddle. This
ensures that each team has 6 brand new clamps for their run.
State and regional events may use the screw clamps that come with
Ferncos or not, it depends on the coordinator. There have been several back and
forths on the band clamps being used for the Collections Event.
Whatever band clamps I have listed on this forum will not be used.
The following band clamps have been ordered and will be at WEFTEC. Ideal part # 56152 - for the Ferncos Ideal part # 56188 - for the saddle The link for the clamps is below

Will the PACP coding test provide solely the acronyms or the entire description as part of the multiple choice answers? ex. B or B (broken). |
The acronym
and the description will be given. In 2012, we will start
using video and coding will be per PACP guidelines. |

In the inventory there are four flexible couplings listed however based upon the picture only two are used. Are only two couplings actually required to complete the task? if so why are there four listed in the parts inventory? |
There should
be 2 listed. The procedures sheet will be modified to reflect
the change. |

| In the instructions we are told
the wet pipe will be 6 feet in length.
Will the team have 6 feet free
pipe to work with on the wet table or does the 6 feet include the
area tied down also. |
The total
length of the wet pipe is ~ 6 feet. This includes the section
that is tied down. |

Do we need to supply anything for this event besides PPE? |
No, everything needed will be provided. But it is the responsibility of the team to verify that all provided equipment is in working order during the 3 minute setup. | 10/3/11 |
